Pressed Flowers and Other Delights

I was taking my books out of a box and this tiny pressed flower fluttered out of one of the pages, it immediately made me smile.

I distinctly remember putting the flower there, hoping it would surprise whomever next opened the book. This made me think about the tiny things we can do to delight ourselves, and the ways our actions can cultivate feelings of self-love and kindness. These tiny acts are seeds planted intentionally and lovingly for my future self to enjoy the blooms. 🌻🌻🌻🌻

Here are some examples:

✨Slipping flowers between the pages of well-loved books
✨Leaving a toonie in the pocket of your winter jacket before packing it away for Spring
✨Putting a hand-written love note in the pocket of that pair of pants that you tend to second-guess yourself in
✨ Burying your favourite chocolate bar deep in the freezer for future you to stumble upon
✨Getting the coffeemaker ready before bed so all you have to do in the morning is press 'start'
✨ Immediately folding your laundry once it's washed (future me would love it if I did this more)
✨ Washing your sheets and cleaning your place before a vacation (remember those?) so you come back to a fresh bed and home

What are the tiny, unique ways that you can delight yourself?

Forgotten flower in my favourite Austen, no less.
