Sunset Rituals

When I was living in the suburbs one of the things I missed most about city life was seeing the sunset.

Before, I would walk home from work every day westbound to my west-facing condo, the sunset was a daily meditation, a ritual for joy. When I left the city, these moments eluded me amid the maze of suburban homes and tall trees.

Every day, the sunrise and sunset are both predictable in their inevitability and yet entirely unpredictable in their unique and beautiful expression. No two are the same.

An invitation: Make time to watch a sunset or sunrise in the next week. Observe the colours, the changing sky. Take in some deep breaths as you sit with this unpredictably predictable masterpiece. Feel the golden hour glow on your skin and notice your thoughts. You may be surprised at how this simple act done with intention can shift your perspective and energy.
